While star ratings may help ACA exchange health plans identify areas of improvement, it’s unclear how much weight consumers will give to the ratings, according to Kaiser Health News.

Star ratings for ACA health plan exchanges are newer than their hospital and Medicare Advantage counterparts. Two years ago, CMS began testing star ratings for ACA insurance exchanges in select states. The measure considers administration of the plan, clinical metrics like preventive screenings, and member satisfaction with physician network and benefits.
