With a clean sweep of the White House and Congress likely, and a favorably disposed federal judiciary, Republicans are poised to effectuate their health care policy priorities over the next two years. This article takes a closer look at their likely congressional leadership and the policies they are likely to pursue.

Congressional Make-Up And Leadership

Republicans accomplished a clean sweep of the legislative branch in the 2024 election. They will control the Senate, likely with a 53 to 47 majority, which is enough to give them some breathing room to enact law under the budget reconciliation process (more on that later), but still seven votes shy of the supermajority needed to pass most forms of legislation.
