The Trump administration has released a new proposal to lower insurance premiums and drug prices, though the details are light.

​This comes as the fate of Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies hangs in the balance with the Senate, after Congress approved the measures for an additional year.

​The proposal, titled the Great Healthcare Plan, would send money to eligible Americans to buy health insurance instead of subsidizing insurance companies.

​“The big insurance companies lose and the people of our country win,” President Donald Trump said on a video announcing the plan.

​The White House claims that the plan would save taxpayers $36 billion and reduce popular Obamacare plan premiums by 10%.
