In recent years, there have been growing concerns about children’s mental health and well-being, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic and with a rise in awareness and exposure to racism and discrimination amid instances of racial injustice, including the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, and growth in anti-Asian sentiment. Previous reporting from KFF’s Racism, Discrimination, and Health Survey examined experiences with and impacts of unfair treatment and discrimination, access to and use of mental health care, and loneliness and social support networks among adults.
