Walmart is now offering same-day pharmacy delivery in 49 states amid intensifying competition for prescriptions from online rival Amazon and the struggles of corner drugstores run by CVS Health and Walgreens.

Walmart, which launched same-day prescription delivery in six states in October, on Thursday said the company is “the first to integrate pharmacy, general merchandise and grocery in a single online order.”

Walmart’s pharmacy delivery expansion comes as drugstore chains, including Walgreens and CVS invest in their own same-day delivery and digital technologies as they experience an exodus of customers in the front of its stores.
