ChatGPT topped 3 billion visits in September 2024, continuing as the most-used generative AI chatbot.

This graphic shows ChatGPT’s global traffic growth compared to competitors. Data was compiled by Similarweb between November 2022 and September 2024, encompassing desktop and mobile web visits worldwide.

ChatGPT Isolated at the Top

Since May 2024, when ChatGPT switched from its old domain (chat.openai.com) to chatgpt.com, it has set new traffic records.

OpenAI’s tool is now the 11th most-visited website globally, surpassing amazon.com (with 2.6 billion monthly visits, though that excludes Amazon’s international domains). For context, google.com has 82 billion monthly visits, while youtube.com has 28 billion.
