Announcement marks the third state company is leaving as part of $1 billion cost reduction plan

Add Illinois to the list of states VillageMD is leaving.

Multiple news sources report that the company will shutter its six Illinois locations, all in the Chicago area, on April 19. This follows its February 22 announcement of plans to close all its locations in Florida, which had been one of its largest markets, by March 15. At the start of the year the company closed all 12 of its clinics in Indiana.

Chicago-based VillageMD operates retail health clinics through its Village Health subsidiary. The company is majority owned by Walgreens Boots Alliance. Most of its clinics are located inside or adjacent to Walgreens...
