As drug prices continue to rise and the affordability of medicines for patients remains out of reach, finding new and creative solutions that address affordability, while also rewarding innovation, is essential. Generic medicines are affordable, already available in our pharmacies, and may be a source for new lifesaving therapies. However, we will only know the full potential of these drugs by creating new financial mechanisms that incentivize developers to explore new uses to meet patients’ needs.
