The addition of 900,000 new Medicare Advantage enrollees to UnitedHealth Group’s health insurance business are a good sign for rivals in the business of administering benefits for seniors in 2021 and beyond.

UnitedHealth is typically the first of the major health insurance companies to report quarterly earnings as it did Wednesday, telling Wall Street analysts “2021 will be one of our strongest years of growth,” for the company’s Medicare Advantage business, chief executive David Wichmann said.

“UnitedHealthcare will have grown to serve 3.5 million more seniors over 5 years,” Wichmann told analysts during a call to discuss UnitedHealth’s 2020 annual and fourth quarter earnings.
