There’s a lot happening at OpenAI, where a new model is getting pioneered at the top of the month, and some of the company’s business model is changing rapidly as well.

First, there’s the news of OpenAI o1 and its ‘mini’ version, which is the first of its kind after GPT 4.0.

Experts describe the new o1 system, to which access is limited right now, as a system that ‘thinks harder’ about its answers and moves more slowly.

There’s also a provided ‘chain of thought’ where some of the process is made transparent to users, although spokespersons concede that:
