President Donald Trump dismissed VA Inspector General Mike Missal, who played a crucial role in uncovering issues with the VA’s Oracle Health EHR rollout, The Spokesman-Review reported Jan. 31.

On Jan. 24, Mr. Trump fired VA Inspector General Mike Missal, one of 17 inspectors general dismissed without clear explanation. Mr. Missal had overseen the official who authored a report on the VA’s Oracle Health EHR system, which launched in the Inland Northwest in 2021 to streamline care for veterans. The internal report and staff at Spokane (Wash.) VA Medical Center warned that system defects were putting patient safety at risk.
