At last month’s Republican National Convention, former President Trump touted Right to Try legislation in his acceptance speech as the Party’s nominee, claiming it is saving “thousands of lives.” The bill expands access to experimental treatments for the terminally ill. In reality, however, the total number of drugs accessed through the law numbered 16 since its signing in 2018. It’s not clear how many patients have received medications through the Right to Try pathway to date. But based on available evidence it appears to be relatively few.
