In 2020, Donald Trump’s appointed HHS secretary demanded the right to review and change CDC’s weekly COVID-19 reports for health professionals. The administration reduced subsidies under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and approved waivers instituting Medicaid work requirements in 13 states, both of which actions increased the number of uninsured Americans. Meanwhile, Trump’s appointments to the Supreme Court culminated in the reversal of Roe v. Wade.
