The Dietary Guidelines for Americans (2025-2030), published January 7, 2026, delivers a straightforward, powerful directive when it comes to alcohol: Drink less. The updated guidance consciously moves beyond previous, misinterpreted language of “moderation” of one drink per day in women and two drinks in men. It’s a designation shared with tobacco smoke and asbestos.
