Companies are pitting AI-powered customer service agents against one another. Decagon’s CEO Jesse Zhang says his company’s AI software has won time and again.

Jesse Zhang didn’t want to build a product he thought people would like. A second-time founder, he wanted to create software that he knew companies could get real value out of — and get it fast. In August 2023, Zhang teamed up with Ashwin Sreenivas, whom he met at a founders’ retreat in Utah, and surveyed dozens of startups to arrive at a product that companies needed and would pay for: an AI-powered system that can handle everyday customer service jobs. Shortly thereafter, their company Decagon was born.
