Thermo Fisher Scientific, a company serving science, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Solventum’s Purification & Filtration business for $4.1 billion in cash. Solventum’s division specializes in purification and filtration technologies used in biologics production, medical technologies, and industrial applications. With approximately 2,500 employees and operations spanning multiple regions, the business generated around $1 billion in revenue in 2024. The acquisition complements Thermo Fisher’s existing bioproduction capabilities, particularly in cell culture media and single-use technologies, expanding its offerings in both upstream and downstream workflows.
