The Leapfrog Group on Tuesday released its 2024 “Top Hospitals” list, recognizing 134 hospitals — including 68 Advisory Board members — for excellence in patient safety and quality of care.

Methodology

For the list, Leapfrog sorted hospitals into four categories and compared them to their peers. The four categories were:

  • Children’s hospitals
  • General hospitals
  • Rural hospitals
  • Teaching hospitals

To be eligible for recognition on the list, hospitals were required to:

  • Meet Leapfrog’s standard for computerized physician order entry
  • Meet Leapfrog’s standard for ICU physician staffing
  • Comply with Leapfrog’s “Never Events” policy
  • Meet or make progress toward achieving Leapfrog’s standard for billing ethics
  • Meet or make progress toward achieving Leapfrog’s standard for informed consent
