The disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on minorities, tribal nations and others has highlighted key disparities in health care in the U.S.

“COVID-19 has changed everything. Health equity really has to cross-cut everything that we do in this arena. COVID-19 has shown us the depth of the health care disparities that we have in this country,” Dr. Rachel Levine, assistant secretary for health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) told Yahoo Finance.

Levine said that learnings from the pandemic must be embedded in the health care system moving forward, instead of relying on programs and pilots — which often fall flat.
