On December 18, 2024, as the country was closing down for the holidays, the United States Supreme Court announced that in spring 2025, it would hear Kerr v. Planned Parenthood (now renamed Medina v Planned Parenthood). This case could determine whether Medicaid enrollees can continue to obtain family planning services from the qualified provider of their choice or, instead, whether states will be permitted to exclude qualified providers from their Medicaid programs because those providers also furnish other services that are not covered by Medicaid but are nevertheless opposed by the state.
