Looking at the photos of baby KJ Muldoon playing at home with his family, happy and thriving, it is hard to imagine that he was born with a rare genetic urea cycle disorder typically associated with either liver transplant or death. Instead, in February 2025, KJ was the first person to receive an investigational personalized gene-editing treatment customized to his specific genetic variant.
