Big US tech companies are becoming increasingly fed up with UK regulation, with some considering exiting the UK market altogether. The proposed Online Safety Bill, aimed at protecting children, imposes strict rules on social media content policing, with severe penalties for tech executives who fail to comply. Controversially, the bill also allows encrypted messages to be read and handed over to law enforcement in cases of national security or child protection risks.
