I read with interest the article from Philip Gruppuso, MD, and Eli Adashi, MD, MS, titled “The Fair Access In Residency (FAIR) Act Takes Aim But Misses The Mark.” As the sponsor of the bipartisan FAIR Act (HR 751), I thank the authors for bringing attention to this important legislation but feel compelled to address some of the longstanding but nonetheless mistaken assumptions that drove their conclusions.
