Three commercial plans received five-star ratings from the National Committee for Quality Assurance.

The NCQA published its 2024 ratings of health plans Sept. 15. The rating evaluates plans on nearly 50 assessments of patient outcomes and experience.

Just five plans out of the more than 1,000 rated received 5-star ratings. In the commercial market, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts and Independent Health received the top rating.

Here are the top-rated commercial plans in each state:

Alabama

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama: 3.5 stars

Alaska

Aetna Life Insurance Company: 3 stars

Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska: 3 stars
