U.S. News & World Report on Tuesday released its “Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers” rankings for 2025, recognizing 733 high-performing facilities across four different specialties.

Methodology

For the rankings, U.S. News partnered with CareJourney by Arcadia to evaluate 4,357 ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) across four different specialty areas:

  • Colonoscopy and endoscopy
  • Ophthalmology
  • Orthopedics and spine
  • Urology

More than 25% of ASCs were multispecialty providers, including most ASCs that provided urological care.

To assess ASC performance, U.S. News and CareJourney analyzed data from Medicare fee-for-service claims between 2021 and 2023 for different outcome areas:
