Many new digital technologies, from wearables to telehealth, are aimed at helping seniors and senior care providers address heart health. However, few research studies have tried to objectively prove the value of these new options, according to a new study that aims to fill this gap.

An evaluation of existing research and new analysis confirmed that digital health interventions do indeed make a difference in managing hypertension among seniors, according to a study released by JAMA last week.

A majority of seniors have hypertension, or elevated blood pressure, which is often a precursor to heart disease and fatal conditions like heart attack or stroke, studies show.
