Hard of hearing? Just wear glasses! This isn’t just a colorful incidence of synesthesia: one new tech innovation being introduced early this year is a pair of lenses embedded with audio enhancements to address mild hearing loss.

Hearing impairment is one of the most common conditions that plague seniors, affecting one in three adults over the age of 65, and that number jumps to one in two for octogenarians.

The “hearing glasses,” made by tech startup Nuance Hearing, are one of a number of new tools and devices coming out that could be useful for both hearing and vision impaired seniors. This new tech is being showcased this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
