Study highlights challenges faced by employed physicians in corporate-owned settings

A survey of 1,000 employed U.S. physicians conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago, commissioned by the Physicians Advocacy Institute, highlights the challenges and opportunities physicians encounter in hospital and corporate-owned settings. The findings reveal that nearly 60% of physicians practicing under non-physician ownership believe it results in a lower quality of patient care.

The survey, which delves into the experiences of physicians employed by hospitals, health systems, venture capital and private equity firms, health insurance companies, and staffing agencies, provides insights into the implications of the significant increase in corporate ownership of physician practices over the last decade.
