Journal of the American College of Radiology study found that radiologist’s participation type and practice size were the strongest predictors of performance

A study published in the Journal of the American College of Radiology found that the strongest predictor of a radiologist’s lower performance in CMS’ Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) was reporting as an individual clinician, rather than as part of a group of physicians or an Advanced Payment Model (APM) entity. The study found that radiologist’s participation type and practice size were the strongest predictors of performance.

Individual radiologists were 7.4 times more likely to fail to achieve “exceptional” status than group reporting radiologists, indicating potential disadvantage in the MIPS program, the study found.
