One in four older U.S. veterans report being diagnosed with cardiovascular disease (CVD) in their lifetime, according to a study published online Dec. 18 in PLOS Mental Health.

Cailin G. Arechiga, M.P.H., from the Yale School of Public Health in New Haven, Connecticut, and colleagues characterized the current prevalence of CVD and its association with sociodemographic, military, trauma, and clinical variables. The analysis included data from 3,001 U.S. (60 years of age and older) participating in the National Health and Resilience in Veterans Study.
