Iowa and Nebraska have the highest percentage of original Medicare enrollees with supplemental benefits, while Hawaii has the lowest, according to an AHIP report published in May.

The national percentage is 41%. The 2022 data was sourced from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and California’s Department of Managed Health Care.

States ranked by percentage of Medicare enrollees with supplement plans:

Iowa: 66.2%

Nebraska: 66.2%

Kansas: 62%

South Dakota: 55.3%

Wyoming: 53.5%

Illinois: 53.2%

Ohio: 52.1%

Indiana: 51.4%

North Dakota: 51.1%
