Although the pandemic, mercifully, may be over, COVID-19 lingers in various iterations and can continue to be an issue within long-term care facilities.

Earlier this year, Politico reported that one-sixth of COVID-related deaths occurred among nursing home residents, approximately half of whom have not received a booster shot.

In an environment where nursing homes still are dealing with the aftermath of controversies involving COVID, further public health research into the efficacy of vaccines still is important.

Data collected from smartwatches show that those vaccinated for COVID will have less severe infections, a German research team demonstrated.
