The County of Santa Clara has announced an agreement with HCA Healthcare to purchase Regional Medical Center (RMC) in San Jose, California, for $150 million.

The deal, formalized through an Asset Purchase Agreement, is expected to close on April 1, 2025, pending regulatory approvals. Once finalized, RMC will become part of the Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH) system.

RMC, a 258-bed hospital serving East San Jose for 60 years, reduced trauma, cardiac (STEMI), and stroke services at the facility in 2024. Santa Clara County plans to restore Level II trauma care immediately after assuming control of the hospital, with STEMI and comprehensive stroke services to follow.
