The bill would establish the “Office of Rural Health” within the office of the Director of the CDC and would address the unique needs and challenges of rural healthcare.

Today, on National Rural Health Day, the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) joined the Rural Health Action Alliance (RHAA) to urge Congress to consider the Rural Health Equity Act (H.R. 5848 & S. 3149).

The bill, which was introduced to the House and the Senate on November 3, would “direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish within the Office of the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention the Office of Rural Health, and for other purposes.”
