The 5G crystal ball holds amazing visions for a number of industries. Chief among them is being able to perform remote surgeries by pairing an expert surgeon in one city with a robot in another.

Using 5G technology, the skilled surgeon would be able to have the robot operate on a patient hundreds or even thousands of miles away. A blazingly fast 5G connection with super-low latency could ensure precision and just the right touch.

And I have no doubt that such an amazing feat will one day happen.

We just have a lot of work to do in building 5G networks, writing software, creating custom-made robots — and of course working through the legal and regulatory hurdles to make...
