Government leaders have created confusion and controversy

In recent weeks, there has been much confusion regarding the status of COVID-19 vaccinations in the U.S.: who FDA approved them for, who they’re recommended for, who can get them off-label, and for whom vaccination is optional. This situation was prompted by thoroughly anti-vaccine forces being unleashed on the health policy apparatus in this country at the behest of HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

As an infectious disease physician who has always favored targeted, risk-based repeat vaccination against COVID-19 rather than universal recommendations — including for myself — I wanted to share my perspective on the latest FDA approvals and forthcoming CDC recommendations.
