The United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS) has announced a landmark plan to offer whole genome sequencing to every newborn. At the same time, Florida’s Sunshine Genetics Act has set the stage for a statewide pilot of newborn genomic screening. These developments are a shift in public health.
