Medicaid work-requirements policies typically group participants into three categories: individuals meeting the work requirement (typically, but not always, 80 hours per month of work or work-related activities), individuals meeting the standard for a personal exemption (for example, having a young child at home), and individuals meeting neither work nor personal exemption standards. This latter group is at risk of losing coverage unless they either meet the work requirement hours standard or qualify for an exemption. The size of these groups can be modeled using publicly available data sources.
