In its Forefront series on “Provider Prices in the Commercial Sector,” Health Affairs has published a number of articles that detail the importance of price transparency, its current and potential effects, and the challenges inherent in the price files that have been published by payers as a result of the enforcement of the Transparency in Coverage (TiC) rule, also known as the insurer price transparency rule.

One article by Daniel Cullen and colleagues compared the information in a payer’s published TiC file with a set of claims from that same payer.
