To make health information more accessible, healthcare organizations are turning to algorithms tailored specifically for medical terminology, removing jargon from text, and making the wording far easier for the general population to understand.
In November 2019 the U.S. government released proposed rules requiring price transparency by having hospitals openly make available information about all charges and negotiated fees. A part of the rules that didn’t get a lot of attention was the requirement to make the text understandable, with “plain language” descriptions.To comply with the rules, many healthcare organizations are employing machine learning to make their billing and fee information more understandable to consumers.
