Healthcare organizations are a lucrative target for bad actors due to their unique position; they store sensitive patient information, provide a critical service to the public, and typically do not have massive cybersecurity budgets. This makes the healthcare industry particularly susceptible to attacks that threaten to exfiltrate information, disruption operations, or both.

In fact, according to Check Point Research, the healthcare sector experienced a significant rise in attacks with an average of 1,684 attacks per week in Q1 of 2023, marking a substantial year-over-year increase of 22%. This increasing number shows how cybercriminals are pinning a target on many healthcare organizations, focusing their efforts to siege their operations and causing irreparable damage.
