Social determinants of health (SDOH) are the nonmedical factors that contribute to the health of an individual – where you are born, where you work, your income, your age, your race, your religion, etc. Essentially all of the components that make you, you, and societal realities are SDOH. And by nature, humans are social creatures. We constantly seek out companionship to the point that we become emotionally connected to inanimate objects that we can name and attribute feelings to like our house plants or robots like our Roombas or the Mars rovers.
