During his campaign for re-election, President Trump has periodically made the bizarre claim that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden – a practicing Catholic – is “against God.”

Presumably, Trump’s statement was referencing Biden’s position on abortion. In certain rigidly conservative circles some have said Biden should not be allowed to take communion because of his support for legal access to abortion.

Also, Trump could be alluding to Biden’s role helping to usher through one of the Obama Administration’s signature accomplishments; the Affordable Care Act (ACA). While key provisions of the healthcare law are supported by the majority of people of faith, the Act has its detractors among some religious persons and groups. The criticism focuses on the ACA’s contraception mandate.
