In the complex landscape of American healthcare, health insurance payers are often perceived as gatekeepers, as obstacles to care, despite escalating medical costs. Americans pay nearly twice as much per person on healthcare compared to other developed nations.

Group health insurance plans were reported by KFF to cost, on average, $8,435 per year for individuals and nearly $24,000 per year for families—a 7% yearly increase.
