National Institutes of Health Director Jay Bhattacharya promised during his confirmation hearing to win back public trust in science. This week — his first on the job — he hinted at one approach he might take to do so.

On the podcast “Honestly with Bari Weiss,” Bhattacharya pointed to OpenSecrets, a nonprofit that tracks lobbying and money in politics and publishes a searchable database of doctors who take money from pharmaceutical companies.

There should be an OpenSecrets database of scientists who take pharma money, he told Weiss.
