Premiums for individual coverage under the Affordable Care Act dropped more than 3% on average across the U.S. yet again for the most popular plans offered for the 2022 coverage year.

A new analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation shows premiums for the “benchmark silver plan” are down 3.1%. It’s the fourth year in a row that such premiums for individual coverage under the ACA known as Obamacare have dropped though rates “vary by county,” Kaiser said in its county-by county analysis.

The study comes amid open enrollment when Americans who buy coverage on exchanges can change or pick new benefits for next year. Open enrollment runs until Jan. 15, though consumers need to sign up by Dec. 15...
