More than 15 million Americans have signed up for 2026 individual coverage under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, but enrollment lags last year’s pace in new sign-ups, according to figures released by Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

“More than 15.6 million Americans have enrolled in a plan on the federally run exchanges so far — compared to roughly 16 million Americans last year,” Oz said on an X post.

Oz blamed the drop in enrollment on new fraud protections that the Trump administration has implemented.
