The latest appropriations bill was introduced this week in the House of Representatives and allocates more than $2.79 billion for mental health programs under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and $385.5 million in grants for Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCHBHCs).

The U.S. is just eight days away from another possible shutdown if the government cannot reach a consensus on the budget.

If passed, the bill would also extend COVID-era expanded telehealth flexibilities under Medicare through Dec. 31, 2027, with in-person requirements for mental health services delayed until Jan. 1, 2028.
