Anybody with even a slight knowledge of the technology industry knows that its upper reaches are hardly teaming with women. There have, of course, been a few female chief executives, such as Meg Whitman, who heads streaming platform Quibi and previously ran Hewlett-Packard and eBay, and Marissa Mayer, former head of Yahoo. And there is Sheryl Sandberg, chief operating officer at Facebook, who is arguably better known for her book Lean In and related efforts to promote women in business than for her role at the social media company.
