Hundreds of apps are currently available for download to assist patients with control of their diabetes. Diabetes Care recently published a meta-analysis that showed across the board reduction in HbA1C (average reduction of 0.49%) in diabetic patients who used mobile apps. Although there was variability in level of reduction, there was in fact reduction. We as clinicians frequently recommend lifestyle modifications to our diabetic patients. To facilitate implementation of these changes it would be more helpful if we provided patients with some suggested tools that they already have access to.
