The Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA), a labor union representing thousands of major and minor league players, has announced the launch of a mental health and wellness program to offer holistic support that is independent of MLB and the individual teams.

The goal is to create a network of independent mental health professionals that players might be more comfortable calling upon as needed compared to their existing options.

“MLBPA has always offered mental health assistance to players who have reached out for help. In addition, each MLB team has dedicated mental health professionals.
